Let your little ones see what police men/women do when they are at work. We will be getting an inside look at the police station, dispatch room and even a patrol car! Cameras are allowed on the tour so be sure to bring one if you want.

WHAT: Maple Sugaring at Carlisle Reservation

WHEN: Sat March 6, 1:00 pm

During warm days of late winter, trees pump sap upward to the branches to aid in leaf production. On nights when the temperature drops below freezing, the sap is pumped back underground to prevent the water solution from freezing in the branches. The quick rising and falling of sap is called a “run.” To collect sap for maple sugaring, we need a combination of cold nights coupled with warm days to keep the sap “running” up and down the trunk of the tree. Until the trees’ buds burst into bloom, this sap can be collected for use during maple sugar production.

The public can visit the Carlisle Visitor Center at any time between 12 and 4 but we'll meet at 1:00. Our group will meet in the lobby of the Visitor Center and join in whichever activities we think will be best for our preschoolers.

Discover the secrets of maple sugaring by taking a crash course on the processes indoors, hiking to the sugar bush and collecting sap with a naturalist, and visiting the Sugar Shack to see the sap being converted into syrup. Train rides through a second sugar bush may also be available, weather permitting. Below is the schedule of events for the day.

WHAT: Introduction to Karate class for preschoolers

WHEN: Sunday March 14 3:30-4:15PM

WHERE: Sandusky Ji Do Kwan Karate Club, 1002 West Monroe St.(Corner of Vine & Monroe St)

COST: free to ESECPTA members

This will be a special class held just for our group, taught by a certified black belt Aikido Instructor. Bring the kids in comfy clothes (sweat pants etc). Kids are encouraged to be barefoot. Class will be appropriate for preschoolers and their older siblings and loaded with balancing, jumping & kicking exercises. At the end of the session each child will get to pick a small toy from the treasure chest.

The building is a brick building on the corner of W Monroe & Vine. Go in the black door at the front of the building.
